Mayo Spirit Trek will take you to explore one of the most beautiful places in Los Glaciares National Park, a site that only a few people have the privilege to access: the Mayo Bay of Lake Argentino. The perfect combination of a walk through the Patagonian Andean forest, views of waterfalls, rivers, hanging glaciers, and a visit to Perito Moreno Glacier (navigations and walkways) leaves visitors fascinated with this activity.

We start the tour at the hotels in El Calafate and head to Punta Bandera port. There, we begin navigating along the Iceberg Canal before entering the Mayo Bay of Lake Argentino. The glaciers of Cerro Mayo and Cerro Negro are located in an area accessible only by lake.

We disembark at Bahía Toro, accompanied by our guide, where we do an interpretive walk (about 700 meters) to observe the Patagonian Andean forest. We visit a waterfall that feeds a beautiful creek, from where we can see a formation of calcium carbonate rocks. From the lakeshore, you can view the hanging glaciers of Cerro Mayo and Cerro Negro.

We return to the boat, and in just 15 more minutes of navigation, we arrive at our next stop…

Disembarking at Cerro Negro, we start a walk of about 1,000 meters into the Patagonian Andean forest, following the trail of a creek that leads us to the base of Cerro Negro, where we can admire the marvelous Black Glacier. From this hanging glacier on the mountain slope, numerous waterfalls originate, giving rise to the river we follow on the way in and out.

Next, we head to the most famous glacier in Patagonia, the Perito Moreno. Unique for its beauty and grandeur, this enormous ice mass begins at the Southern Patagonian Icefield and stretches 30 km long until it reaches and ends in front of the Península de Magallanes on Lake Argentino, with walls over 60 meters high. An unmissable navigation tour takes you along its northern front and rupture area.

Finally, we disembark at Puerto Moreno and walk along the walkways. We return to the boat and head back to the port of Punta Bandera, arriving in El Calafate at 6 p.m.
