The tour begins with the hotel pickup of guests, then heading to Los Glaciares National Park. During the drive, our guides will share interesting facts about the area, the glacier, and the excursion.
Arriving at the Bajo de las Sombras port (Ruta 11, 70 km from El Calafate), you’ll board the boat to cross Lago Rico. After approximately 20 minutes of navigation, you’ll reach the opposite shore facing the impressive southern face of Perito Moreno Glacier.
Disembarking, you’ll be greeted by expert mountain guides, who will escort you to a cozy refuge with a premium view of the glacier. From here, your adventure begins! You’ll walk along the lake’s edge, enjoying the stunning scenery and the chance to see calving events. The guides will also give a short talk about glaciology.
At the glacier’s edge, surrounded by the brilliant blue hues of the ice, small subgroups (up to 20 people) will be formed, and you’ll be fitted with crampons and helmets provided by the company. This highly personalized excursion (one guide for every 10 guests maximum) offers a safe and unforgettable experience on the glacier’s surface. You will walk over the ice, observing deep crevasses, blue pools, massive seracs, and turquoise lagoons—true formations of a glacier.
After the trek, you’ll explore the periglacial zone and the lateral moraine, from where you’ll enjoy panoramic views of Perito Moreno Glacier, the surrounding mountains, and Lago Argentino. The tour continues along a trail through the lush Patagonian mountain forest, completing ** THREE HOURS OF HIKING ALONG THE LAKE COAST, THE MORRENA, THE ICE, AND THE FOREST** (approximately one hour is spent on the glacier ice).
A sip of whiskey and a souvenir complete the experience. Soon after, you’ll board the boat to return to Bajo de las Sombras Port, with spectacular views of the glacier’s enormous walls from the boat.
Total duration of the transfer and tour is around ten hours, including a one-hour guided visit to the Perito Moreno Glacier walkways (located 7 km from the port), where you can enjoy panoramic views and explore self-guided trails. If you choose to go without our transportation, the Mini Trekking lasts approximately 4.5 hours — departing and returning from the same port.
Note: The Mini Trekking is conducted in natural environments where weather conditions and glacier features change daily. The excursion is not canceled as long as safety conditions allow. We look forward to welcoming you!
